The Executive Director of Literacy Instruction for Texas is Lisa Hembry. Ms. Hembry joined the staff at LIFT in 2010 after 2 years serving as President/CEO of Dallas iMedia Network. Prior to that, Ms. Hembry served 4 years as Dallas County Treasurer; 2 years as CEO of Dallas Historical Society; 12 years in real estate; and 8 years in radio as news director and public affairs director. Ms. Hembry serves on the boards of Baylor Healthcare Foundation, Human Rights Initiative, and on the Texas Historical Commission. Ms. Hembry is a graduate of SMU and attended COX School of Business at SMU.

Cheryl Parker is the Director of Programs, responsible for all LIFT adult learner projects. With 25 years experience in adult education management, Ms. Parker has been with the agency more than 11 years, expanding the number of adult learners served annually (from 600 per year to more than 8500) and the number of programs (from 1 to 7). Ms. Parker holds a bachelor degree and two masters degrees, in addition to a master certification in instruction for learning disabilities. Ms. Parker is recognized for her expertise by the National Institute for Literacy and ProLiteracy International, as well as statewide Literacy Texas. Ms. Parker serves on the steering committee of the Metropolitan Dallas Literacy Coalition coordinated by UWMD.

Julia Rendon has served as Daytime Learning Center Coordinator since 2003. She is fluent in English and Spanish and is instrumental in scheduling intake and testing appointments for new enrollees. Julia is the data entry specialist for ESL, Adult Literacy and Family Literacy programs. She is a tremendous LIFT team member that offers support services in a variety of important functions.

Melissa Gray is the Learning Center Manager and has been with LIFT for 11 years. Prior to joining LIFT, Ms. Gray worked as a copywriter, taught ESL in Caracas, Venezuela and was Assistant Promotions Director for United Artists Communications,Inc. Ms. Gray received her BS in Journalism with minors in Business and English from North Texas State University.

Rudy Murillo, Jr. has been with LIFT since 2004 working as Information Technology Manager and English as a Second Language Program Manager. As ESL Program Manager, Mr. Murillo manages all ESL sites, staff and adult learners. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Computer Information Systems from the University of Texas at El Paso. Prior to joining LIFT, Rudy worked in IT for EDS, Perot Systems, Quaker State and Priester Supply.
