English immersion classes that teach low literate, non-English speaking adults how to read, write, speak and understand the English language. Cambridge Ventures, competency-based ESL program for adult learners used by LIFT.

A combination of student books, workbooks and audio cds are used with proven strategies for teaching reading, writing and speaking English in a classroom setting. Adult learners practice verbal and written word recognition used in workplace settings.
Classes are taught by LIFT volunteer teachers at ten faith-based organizations and one University located in predominately non-English speaking neighborhoods.

Classes meet twice a week for two hours per session for 14 weeks. ESL classes begin two times each calendar year.
