LIFT a Paw 4 Literacy after school program with Jubilee Center in South Dallas served more than 50 children in 2012!

Academically at-risk first through fourth graders read aloud to registered therapy dogs, helping them perform at grade level and develop a love for reading. Jubilee Center works with teachers to choose books based on each child's reading level and areas that need improvement.  Approximately 85% of the participants improved reading scores after the 10-week program and parents say their children are reading more at home!

The program is based on a UC Davis study published February 2010 showing that children who read aloud to therapy dogs for twenty minutes a week for ten weeks improved reading scores 12-20% over children who did not participate in the program.
